Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 27, 2026

Overview

This privacy policy describes how kangweiliao.dev (“this site”, “I”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit. This is a personal portfolio and blog — it does not sell products, collect payment information, or require account registration.

Information Collected

Analytics (Vercel Analytics)

This site uses Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sessions or sites. It collects aggregated, anonymous data including:

  • Page views and referrer URLs
  • Country-level location (derived from IP, not stored)
  • Browser type and device category

No personally identifiable information is collected by analytics. IP addresses are not stored. See Vercel’s Analytics Privacy Policy for details.

AI Chat (Optional Feature)

The homepage includes an optional AI chat assistant. Messages you send are transmitted to OpenRouter to generate responses. Chat messages are not stored server-side and are not associated with any personal identifier. Rate limiting is enforced using Upstash Redis, which temporarily stores an anonymised hash of your IP address for up to 60 seconds to enforce request limits.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. A theme preference may be stored in your browser’s localStorage (client-side only) to preserve your light/dark mode selection across visits. This data never leaves your browser.

Third-Party Services

  • Vercel — hosting and infrastructure
  • OpenRouter — AI chat inference
  • Upstash Redis — rate limiting (ephemeral IP hash, 60s TTL)
  • Google Fonts — fonts loaded at build time via Next.js (no runtime tracking)

External Links

This site links to external websites (GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.). I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their individual privacy policies.

Data Retention

Aggregated analytics data is retained by Vercel per their data retention policy. No user-specific data is stored on this site. Chat messages are not persisted. Rate-limit records expire after 60 seconds.

Your Rights

Since this site does not collect or store personally identifiable information, there is nothing to request deletion of. If you have concerns, contact me directly.
